PARENT INFORMATION If your son or daughter chooses a career in hairdressing, an apprenticeship is the most preferred training route, as they are able to gain the required experience in a real work environment whilst they learn and also get paid for doing so. This route involves actually working in a salon for 4 days per week and attending training at the Academy one day per week.

Apprentices have the opportunity to progress onto other courses, such as barbering and the advanced apprenticeship to provide them with a solid foundation for an exciting career. If they prove themselves in the placement salons, there is a good chance that they will be offered employed status. Opportunities for the right candidates are also available to further their career, as appropriate.

We have many success stories of how our learners have progressed onto various prestigious work fields within the hairdressing industry.

  • We have several who have gone on to own their own salons
  • Some have progressed to be assessors and even teachers themselves
  • We have learners who work teamed with the fashion industry and are currently working at London Fashion Week
  • We have television stars
  • Competition winners
  • Some who work with high-status teams who work around the world

This doesn’t mean to say that we expect this of all our learners; we encourage each individual to work to the best of their potential; but the majority of learners who have trained through us are now working hard and earning money as hairdressers in good salons. A job for life!

Although we are a private training provider, we carry out a very stringent staff recruitment, to ensure your son/daughter is safe in our care:

  • We have a robust safeguarding policy and procedure
  • Staff undergo CRB checks and references are followed up
  • Staff are vigilant to bullying, discrimination, on-line safety and other concerns
  • We maintain a safe and positive environment
  • We have been accredited with the Habia Health & Safety Award for three consecutive years, since the first launch
  • We are committed to equal opportunities

We work hard to enable your son/daughter to get the best training possible. Our staff are very highly qualified and are committed to helping young people to achieve their goals in every way possible. All our training staff still continue to carry out hairdressing duties, to ensure they are able to provide current and up-to-date training, to ensure learners are equipped to work in any type of salon. Not only are our staff highly qualified hairdressers and teachers, but they also continually learn all the time to ensure they are up-to-date, familiar and are able to deal with current issues and support issues, such as how to best support learners who are dyslexic and they are able to provide help and support with related functional skills.

  • We only work with salons who we have personally vetted, to ensure it is a safe and professional environment in which to work and train; as well as ensuring they treat people equally and with respect, also providing them with in-salon training to run alongside their Academy training.
  • We have a zero tolerance of bullying and our staff are vigilant in recognising any signs of bullying or safeguarding issues.
  • We have designated persons on site, who are always there to listen to problems and concerns of a personal safety nature.
  • If your son/daughter is accepted and starts a programme with us, we will invite you to an information session, to ensure you are fully aware of important matters, roles, responsibilities and expectations and how you may be able to support your son/daughter whilst studying for their apprenticeship.
  • We will also provide information during study, to inform you of their progress, in written form and by invite to discuss personally with their tutor.
  • Your son/daughter will be assigned a personal tutor and a reviewer, who will support them through their training and help them keep on track with their programme.
  • We have an open door policy, which enables all our learners to express their views and be ‘listened to’.
